Compensation range: $22-24/hr + Tips

Position Summary

The Barista Hospitality Specialist is a cornerstone of Porter’s guest experience, bringing warmth, attentiveness, and expertise to an all-day, multi-use space. From crafting exceptional espresso in the morning to guiding guests through lunch service, preparing cocktails at golden hour, supporting private events, and welcoming visitors into our co-working environment, this role offers variety, connection, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact every day. They ensure high quality service while exceeding guest expectations, always providing radical hospitality. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

HOSPITALITY & GUEST EXPERIENCE 

  • Provide excellent customer service; be readily available and approachable to all guests  
  • Maintain an upbeat and friendly attitude with customers and staff 
  • Participate in all aspects of service as needed, adapt to the dynamic flow of the space 
  • Sell, book and serve meeting rooms if applicable 
  • Support buyouts, banquets, and special events with thoughtful food & beverage service 
  • Collaborate with teammates, take direction and feedback, and contribute to a growth-focused environment 

BARISTA & BARTENDER 

  • Welcome guests, take orders and operate the POS system  
  • Serve food, beverages, and retail products while creating memorable guest experiences 
  • Learn & support retail sales; maintain product knowledge across all offerings 
  • Stock and rotate displays, including pastries, cold case items and retail merchandise 
  • Prepare & serve beverages ranging from specialty coffee and tea to craft cocktails 
  • Perform opening, side work, and closing duties according to operational standards 
  • Learn & execute beverage recipes across both coffee and bar programs 
  • Maintain clean, organized and sanitary service spaces both front and back of house 
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional hospitality standards 
  • Maintain operational readiness of beverage stations 

CULINARY & FOOD PREP 

  • Learn, prepare and plate relevant food recipes according to established standards 
  • Prepare and package catering and to-go orders 
  • Receive, store and rotate food products according to health & safety regulations 

PORTER SUPPORT OPERATIONS 

  • Maintain storage areas, manage inventory, and rotate stock using FIFO principles 
  • Stock all retail and food/beverage areas 
  • Support operational cleanliness throughout all spaces 
  • Cover shifts at companion sites as needed, providing multi-unit operational support 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Strong knowledge of all menus, including food, beverage, & retail offerings 
  • Confidence in answering guest questions about menus, space, services and the Porter brand 
  • Demonstrate curiosity and eagerness to learn, grow, and expand skills across hospitality functions 
  • Ability to receive feedback and improve performance 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests and teammates 
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support multiple hospitality functions as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • 1-2 years of experience in a customer facing role, preferably within hospitality, cafe, bar, or retail environments  
  • Knowledge of coffee, including preparation methods, beverage customization, and flavor profiles; barista training or experience preferred 
  • Willingness to learn & grow with humility and a team-first mindset 
  • Food handlers’ & MAST permits required to apply for the position 
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service 
  • Open availability Monday-Saturday 

 

Nice to Have Skills: We will train you in the following 

  • Knowledge of wine, craft cocktails, and other beverage programs 
  • Experience supporting high-intensity events, private dining, and banquet service 
  • Retail product knowledge and assisting guests with purchases
