Compensation range: $24/hr + Tips

Position Summary

This role’s primary responsibility is to provide exceptional service while creating a warm and engaging experience for guests. This position requires knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits while maintaining a high level of hospitality, customer service, and teamwork, to contribute to the overall success of the food & beverage program. This position requires flexibility to support dining room service, both indoor and outdoor environments, as well as private events. Strong knowledge of the food menu and a willingness to develop barista skills (preferred but not required) are highly valued. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Execute all aspects of bar service, including crafting and serving a full range of cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages with precision and speed. 
  • Maintain a welcoming and engaging demeanor while interacting with guests, fostering a high-quality hospitality environment. 
  • Accurately take orders, operate the POS system, and manage transactions efficiently. 
  • Maintain a clean and organized bar & food area, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. 
  • Assist with inventory management, restocking, and proper storage of bar ingredients and supplies. 
  • Ensure adherence to all local and state liquor laws, including responsible alcohol service. 
  • Participate in bar setup and breakdown duties, ensuring all prep and closing checklists are completed. 
  • Assist with curating beverage menus and seasonal cocktail specials. 
  • Engage in continuous learning to expand knowledge of craft cocktails, beer, wine, and emerging beverage trends. 
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service and a well-integrated guest experience. 
  • Provide recommendations and educate guests on beverage selections to enhance their experience. 
  • Monitor and manage bar patron behavior, enforcing responsible drinking policies and de-escalating situations when necessary. 
  • Support service on the dining room floor, assisting with guest orders, food delivery, and table maintenance as needed. 
  • Work across both indoor and outdoor service areas, ensuring guest comfort in various environments. 
  • Participate in special events, private parties, and catered functions, providing a high level of service and hospitality. 
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the food menu, providing thoughtful pairings and recommendations to guests. 
  • Express a willingness to develop barista skills, including espresso preparation and coffee service (preferred but not required). 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Strong beverage skills with a passion for craft cocktails, beer, and wine. 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and efficiency. 
  • Knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems such as Toast, Square, or similar platforms. 
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal alcohol regulations, including responsible alcohol service. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from management. 
  • Knowledge of food and beverage pairings, as well as the ability to describe menu items to guests. 
  • Flexibility to work both indoor and outdoor dining settings. 
  • Comfort working nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. 

 

Education/Experience 

  • 2+ years of bartending & service experience in a high-volume bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting. 
  • MAST (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training) certification required in Washington State. 
  • Food Handler’s Permit required. 
  • Experience in a customer-facing role within the hospitality industry. 
  • Knowledge of classic and modern cocktail preparation techniques. 
  • Experience working events, private dining, or catered functions is a plus. 
  • Interest in learning barista skills for potential cross-training opportunities.
